Expedite Requests
What is an expedited decision request?
Expedited decision requests are used by an author to communicate that one of the journals to which (s)he has submitted has made him/her an offer. The expedited decision request is sent to other journals that are still considering the manuscript in the hopes that they will make a publication decision for the article by a given deadline. Expedited decision requests are commonly used by law reviews.
What is the priority deadline?
When an author has multiple publication offers with varying deadlines, it is helpful for journals editors who are still reviewing the manuscript to know a single date that the author would like a decision by. When there is one expedited decision request, the due date for that decision request is the priority deadline; when there are multiple expedite requests, the newest expedited decision request becomes the priority deadline.
A note on timezones: The time of a deadline will display to authors according to the timezone specified when the expedite request was created. For editors, the time is automatically converted and displayed in the journal's timezone.
